The Hospital Intervention Services Program has been designed to provide individuals with deafblindness and their families with the support of an Intervenor while they experience challenging medical situations in a hospital setting. This program may also provide the support of an Intervenor during a time when the family may be in an emergency or crisis situation to facilitate communication and access to the information within the environment. This service is open to all members.
By utilizing a hospital or relief Intervenor, families will be able to consult with medical staff, attend procedural appointments, or have much-needed rest. The Hospital Intervenor will be flexible, offering support when they are most needed.
The Hospital Intervention Services Program offers Intervention support to all individuals with deafblindness that hold a current membership with CDBA-BC.
This program is needed when individuals with deafblindness and their families are vulnerable. Our Intervenors offer comfort and communication support to the individuals with deafblindness and a much-needed break to their families.
The Intervenor is prepared to meet the needs of the individual with deafblindness, whether it be through communication, resources, or books and toys. Their job is to ensure the individual with deafblindness is as comfortable and pleasant as possible under these difficult circumstances.
In order to receive Hospital Intervention Services, families can click on the link below and fill out the application form. Applying as soon as the hospital dates are known is highly recommended. Our Family Services Coordinator will then contact the family for more information in order to make the necessary arrangements.
